Spidermonkey befriends Python

Mozilla's JavaScript engine is now available through a Python wrapper (via Simon Willison's Blog).

I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I have often worried about what would happen if the Spidermonkey engine fell into the wrong hands ... many sites use JavaScript to protect email addresses from spambots. Now a clever Python hacker could use this new invention to siphon millions of formerly-protected email addresses from the web.

I wonder why on earth I am even writing this, since this post might give just enough encouragement and insight to evil minds, enabling them to churn out a weapon of mass spamuction.
