Visitor Submitted: Firefox streaming video plugin

Submitted By: Lew Shugar (lewisShugar [at] comcast.net)

I'm using Mozilla Firefox as my browser, but I can't watch news videos, can you tell me how to set it up or tell me what plug-ins I need to install?

Hello,

you can find instructions and download locations for Real One and Windows Media Player plugins at the Plugindoc site.

I much prefer to use the old Real Player 8 over Real One. (Real One seems to take over a lot of the computer and take up too much space and memory.) The installation instructions and download locations for this can be found in the MozTips Wiki.

Thanks for notice on the security holes in the old Real Player 8 series.

I will try a recent version of Real One and see if it is okay.

Realplayer 8 doesn't have important security fixes so you shouldn't use it in place of RealOne. I understand why people would like the older builds but really the newest ones aren't that bad. It doesn't make much sense to run a Secure browser like Firefox and then run an older piece of software that has known exploits.
